Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar’s Diwali 2019 bonanza Saand ki Aankh is a biopic based on as ‘Shooter Dadis’ from Uttar Pradesh, Prakashi Tomar and Chandro Tomar. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, the human drama is a departure from the run-of-the-mill sports biopics, featuring the story of two extraordinary women rising above all odds. Packed with tons of inspiration, the narratives shows Taapsee and Bhumi as two old women who set out to become world champions of sharpshooting at an age when people plan retirement. If you have missed watching this riveting film in theatres, ZEE5 is all set to host the digital premiere of Saand ki Aankh. The movie will start streaming on the OTT platform from 27 December 2019 onwards.
In times when actresses shy away from ageing on screen, Taapsee and Bhumi embrace wrinkles wearing the traditional attire of Haryana – a shirt and ghagra with a dupatta covering their head. The powerhouse performers essay sisters-in-law who rely on their ‘hunar‘ (talent) and not ‘umar‘ (age) to clinch medals at an age when many start the second innings of their life. The story begins with Taapsee and Bhumi encouraging the girls in their house to take up sharpshooting as a sport. However, these ladies themselves fall in love with the sport and embark on an inspirational journey.
