Leading men’s wear designer Raghuvendra Rathore can be rightfully thanked for bringing royalty back into the world of fashion. Vivek Dahiya, a popular actor, on the other hand, became a television royalty with his dapper sense of style and make-you-go-weak-in-the-knees charm. These two handsome men are the latest guests to make an appearance on The Greedy Closet. The chat show, hosted by Monica Dogra, aims at bringing the best of fashion and television on the same podium. Exuding the majestic panache seen in his outfits, Raghuvendra was dressed in one of his own creations, while Vivek kept it cool and comfortable in a white t-shirt and denims paired with a funky blazer.
For those not in the know, Raghuvendra continues to give an ode to the bandhgala and is lauded for resurrecting two seemingly redundant fashion styles of the bygone era – bandhgala and the jodhupuris. Not only did he bring back these designs in vogue but also added to the rich, forgotten Rajasthani heritage. Not many are aware that Raghuvendra’s great grandfather was the Maharaja of Jodhpur. But despite having a knack for designs, he started out with studying electronics. ” I was studying electronics, I was designing computers and I can sketch well,” he revealed. In addition to this, he also spoke about working with the bigwigs in the international fashion circuit, including Donna Karan and Oscar De La Renta. “I was wearing one of my creations and walking down the street. Someone walked up to me and asked, “Where did you get this from?” They wanted to have it for a cover shoot with Johnny Depp. It’s bizarre that how by meeting Oscar De La Renta in an elevator I got a job. I was working with earlier in New York. I was studying at the Parsons School of Design and got an internship and a part-time job at Donna Karan.
Lady luck shone since the beginning on Vivek too. He had come to India from the UK for a period of six months. And, within the first two months he bagged his first role in a TV show. Needless to mention, there has been no looking back for him ever since. In case you missed it, Vivek will be next seen playing Captain Rohit Bagga on upcoming ZEE5 Original The Seige: 26/11. The web series is based on book – Black Tornado: The Three Sieges of Mumbai 26/11.
“I’d have played Byomkesh Bakshi better,” revealed Vivek in the rapid-fire round. However, it was the interesting confession of following Rakhi Sawant on social media for ‘cheap thrills’ that caught our attention. He also mentioned that he’d love to steal Saif Ali Khan’s wardrobe! For a firsttimer, Raghuvendra performed pretty well in the rapid fire round. One of his replies was, “Taimur Ali Khan is number one when it comes to style quotient,” when asked to choose between the blue-eyed boy, Saif, Ranveer Singh and Virat Kohli. Recalling a fashion faux pas, he said, “An actor who was walking for the final of a show And the outfit was just not coming together. He said, I want something more flashy. We had a lehenga, we cut the trim and pasted it on the waist coat. My mum called and she was like, ‘Is that yours?’ In the same show, Bipasha Basu was walking and the straps snapped.”
