Dhammagiri, Igatpuri

This is one of the biggest spiritual retreats known for practising Vipassana meditation techniques. While you attain a lot of peace while you are here if you plan to visit this meditation centre there are some rules you need to follow. You need to stay away from alcohol and sex, also, the place forbids any connection to the outer world. Even non-verbal communication is not allowed here, except for limited interaction with the teacher and management.

 Lotus of Desert Retreat, Rajasthan

In case, if you are not very comfortable around men at a meditation centre and want to get spiritual peace with your girl gang, the Lotus of Desert Retreat is where you should visit. This meditation centre is exclusively for women. Apart from meditating, this place also focuses on travelling and exploring Rajasthan, through experiencing sunrise and sunsets, while hiking. You need to pay if you stay at the retreat and it is not too heavy on the pocket.

Isha Yoga Center,  Chennai

This yoga retreat is quite famous for finding inner well-being and when you visit you feel energised. It is located on the Velliangiri Mountains and spreads across 150 acres. They provide four paths of yoga and there is also a temple of Lord Shiva. On-site accommodation is available here and there is a huge meditation hall where events are held throughout the year. The best part is they provide yoga for children too, and some courses are open to all.

The Art of Living Centre, Bengaluru

This is another popular place where you can indulge in yoga and meditation, without compromising on the basic comforts of life. Towards every end of the day, there is an aarti on the banks of the river with music that people attend. A few more things to keep in mind while you are at the place is that accommodation is strictly for devotees and shouldn’t go beyond 15 days. Smoking, drinking, playing cards, watching TV or any other recreational activity is prohibited.

Transcendental Meditation, Delhi

Yes, Delhi is not just known for its parties and food but let us tell you it also has a renowned meditation centre. This retreat has centres in more than 100 countries, Delhi has the national centre. Here you can learn different meditation techniques which can calm your mind.  They have two-hour sessions for five days a week.
